A Walk Up the Garden Path

1. Sometimes the simplest things have the greatest effect. Brigitte started by painting her walls a light apple green. Already there’s a feeling of walking in the garden…
   
2. Next Brigitte took some ordinary branches and used them to add sparkle to the room. She sprayed each branch with spray adhesive then sprinkled sparkles on. This is easy, but messy. Kids love to help with the sparkles part! You can also spray paint the branches white if you choose. (see figs. A & B)

3. Brigitte laced these branches through the overhead rafters in her garage. If that’s not an option in your room, place them in vases in the corners or arrange them over picture frames or the backs of furniture.
   
4. Intertwine small fairy lights in amongst the branches. (see fig. C)
   
5. Drape vines of English Ivy on the walls and wrap smaller vines around centrepieces on your tables.

6. Sprinkle rose petals on your table in and around the plates. Use an apple green tablecloth for a garden effect, or if you prefer, a white cloth provides a nice contrast to the bright colours of the rose petals. (see fig. D)
   
7. Place tea lights on the tables and around the room.
   
8. Turn on the fairy lights, light the candles and you have an elegant English Country Garden in your own home – no gnomes need apply. (see fig. E)
