As Brigitte says, “A renovator without a disposal bin is like a hockey player without a stick.” Brigitte needs a bin to get rid of all her construction debris. But her neighbour doesn’t approve. Luckily, Brigitte and her talented artistic friend, Karen, have the solution to eyesores in the neighbourhood. .
Canvas Creations
- Be it a disposal bin that has your neighbours up in arms, or a half-finished construction project that you don’t want to look at, a little canvas can go a long way to making something unattractive a little more interesting. When Brigitte’s neighbour tired of seeing a disposal bin out of her front window, Brigitte transformed it into a summer garden surrounded by picket fence. When her windows were a week late arriving, a large canvas picture window covered up the ugly plywood covering the gaping hole in her wall. (see fig. A)
- Measure the area to be covered. Purchase the size of canvas required. (see fig. B)

- Go crazy with paint. This is a great project for kids. But if the canvas is going to be out of doors, make sure the paint isn’t water-soluble.
- Use Velcro or long pieces of dowelling to hang your creation. Brigitte’s neighbour liked the idea so much that she decorated her garbage bin with canvas tied up with pretty bows. (see figs. C & D)
