DRIcore is an ideal product to use on basement floors – or workshops. The plastic cleats raise the panels off the floor, allowing moisture to pass underneath. The DRIcore that Brigitte chooses for her workshop is perfect for so many reasons. It’s ideal for moist conditions, it’s attractive and it’s super easy to install.

DO level the floor area before you start. You want a smooth surface on which to work.

DON’T hesitate to start. This is easy!

Tongue and Groovy

  1. Levelling cement works like a good facial foundation – it fills any cracks and holes and gives you a smooth canvas on which to work.
  2. Mix the product according to package directions. Pour out the appropriate amount for the area to be repaired. Using the edge of a trowel, move your arm in an S-shaped pattern to evenly distribute the production. Allow to dry thoroughly.
  3. DRIcore comes in 2 x 2 panels with tongue and groove edges. It is a good choice for a workshop floor because it’s softer underfoot than cement but still sturdy enough to withstand everything you’ll throw at it in your workshop.

  4. Place the first piece in position in the core. Place small wall spacers between the panel and the wall to allow for expansion and contraction. (see fig. A)
  5. Put the next piece in position. Place a 2 x 4 against the edge of the panel and nudge it into place using a hammer or mallet. This securely locks one panel into the next without damaging the tongues on the edge. Place all the panels for the first row. (see fig. B)
  6. You want the joints in subsequent rows to be staggered for extra strength so you need to cut the first panel of the second row in half. This offsets the joints in the second row from those in the first. (see fog. C)

  7. Continue piecing together the floor until the entire area is covered. DRIcore can be easily cut to fit unusual shapes. (see fig. D)
  8. Install the quarter round to finish the job.
  9. It’s “beer o’clock!”
