Previous Project | Painting a Stucco Wall Next Project

Brigitte replaced an ordinary back fence with a stunning stucco wall. And she wanted her new wall to match the Tuscan feel she created in her backyard. The answer – paint the stucco a warm “Spiced Butternut.” Stucco can provide a luxurious new textured look to boring outdoor enclosures. And you can paint it whatever colour you like.

DO be creative. Stucco can be used in many different applications

DON’T use ordinary paint. Liquistone acts as a sealant, trapping in moisture. The paint then bubbles and flakes off. NOT what you want.

Pick a Colour, any Colour…

  1. Before you paint out of doors, there are some things you need to consider. Check the weather! Make sure that no rain is forecast and that the temperature range is within the recommendations on the paint can.
  2. If you have any valuable plants (and someday Brigitte will) cover them with a plastic drop cloth. Cover the grass around the area where you are working.
  3. Make sure that your pets are not in the area. Brigitte definitely didn’t want Torchy to be a “Spiced Butternut” dog.

  4. Don’t use ordinary exterior paint on stucco. You need an “exterior masonry coating,” like Niagara Protective Coating Liquistone. It rolls or brushes on like ordinary paint but it breathes. And it can be mixed to any colour. (see fig. A & B)
  5. This product is good for concrete, stucco or even anywhere you want texture or traction – particularly al fresco!
