Once Brigitte sheds some natural light on the garage situation she builds a workbench for herself. Now if she could only make room for a car in there…
A Workbench of Her Own
Brigitte’s workbench plans were very simple and inexpensive. All she used was about 12 2 x 4s, a standard-size sheet of plywood, a bunch of screws, a saw, and a drill. The dimensions were 96”w x 36”h x 32”d. She had a plywood surface on top and plywood shelf on the bottom between the legs.
- Cut the wood into 3 36” pieces and screw them into two 96” pieces. Put one on each end and one in the middle.
- Make a second piece just like the first, but add 4 32” cross pieces for the plywood top
- Place this second piece across from the first so that it looks like an unfinished table. (Um…that’s what it IS!) Screw these two sides together.
- Add cross pieces on the bottom part to brace it. This will be the lower shelf.
- Cut the plywood to the size of your bottom shelf and screw it into your legs and cross pieces.
- Cut the rest of your plywood to fit the top of the workbench and secure it by screwing it into the edges and cross pieces.
- It’s that simple! Slap a coat of paint on it and you’re in business!
