While digging in the garden, Brigitte found a metal …um….thingy… buried in the soil. After cleaning and repainting it, she decided to hang it over the basement window. Easier said than done. While preparing to drill into the concrete, Brigitte broke off a few pieces of the wall. It was her mess, so she had to clean it up.

Repairing an Exterior Wall
- Go to the hardware store and arm yourself with supplies: self-bonding cement, brick moulding, a bucket to mix the cement in, a trowel, caulk, glue, nails, and lots of attitude!
- Remove the old damaged brick moulding by prying it away from the wall.
- Measure and cut some wood to make a temporary form to hold the concrete .
- Once the temporary frame is set around the outside of the window, mix the cement in a bucket (to the consistency of a wet sandy beach)
- Fill the gap with the cement.
- After that hammer a board over the wet cement to help it set. It should set for 24 hours.
- After the cement dries, the temporary wooden frame can be removed and any left over gaps patched up with a bit more cement.
