Meltdown! It is a well-known fact that a woman cannot and should not be kept from the singular pleasure of enjoying some cold, creamy, satisfying ice cream (preferably eaten straight out of the container). However, some strange forces are at work in the house of Gall, forcing Brigitte to have a meltdown over her ruined ice cream. Could it be that her refrigerator/freezer is on the fritz? What about those flickering under cabinet lights? Someone or something is keeping her from exercising her basic human right to eat ice cream straight from the tub! No longer willing to be a hostage to her appliances, Brigitte takes charge and decides its time to renovate the kitchen.

DO consider freshening up your kitchen if you are in need of new appliances or a new floor.

DO think of giving your kitchen an inexpensive makeover by repainting cabinets and walls, replacing a countertop, or updating the floor.

DO explore all of your options. A tile floor may break your budget, but peel-and-stick vinyl “tiles” maybe work for you and they can look pretty darn good! Under cabinet lighting is not extremely expensive, but it is extremely useful when you are working in the kitchen. Brigitte uses MDF (medium density fibre board) trim and door stop for a chair rail and to make faux raised panels on her walls. Again, not an expensive material, but it gives a whole new look to the space. New cabinets may be out of the question, but even new door knobs or drawer pulls can give your kitchen a lift.

DON’T work alone. Bribe a friend if you have to!
